FRIDAY FLASHBACK: Hall & Oates – “Private Eyes”

I think Friday is a good day to have some fun and throw out classics that still make us smile. Hall & Oates get the first crack at it with one of their six number one singles from Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, released back in 1981. It remained #1 for a whole two weeks before it was taken down by Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical”, which we’ll save for another day.

I bet you didn’t know that their lead guitarist was the one and only G.E. Smith, also the musical director of the Saturday Night Live band and lead guitarist of Bob Dylan’s touring band in the late 80′s. G.E.’s birth certificate says that his initials stand for “George Edward”, but he’ll tell you they stand for “Great Entertainment”. I’ll go with the latter.

John Oates actually lives up in Aspen now and apparently shreds. Smart man…I’d do the same thing if I had his money.
